I did this piece a while back, and it's what got me back into cross stitching. I'd done some while I was a kid, but not really since. I had a couple of small kits that I worked on around the same time as this.

Like many others at the time, I got inspired by the Alastor v Lucifer hoodie that came out at Hot Topic and the symbol they put on the back. I'm not much of an artist, but I really got into the idea that "I could stitch that." So, while I started out with some graph paper, I quickly upgraded to finding a program to use instead. I wanted something bigger than the small mellophones I made as a kid. I also wanted it to be something more than just red. So, I added some of DMC's light effects floss. This was a sparkly red and gold and glow-in-the-dark that I already had, and some neon green.

The backstitching isn't as neat as I'd have hoped, but that's ok. I hadn't really planned it out much, at all. I didn't even leave enough fabric to properly frame it, since it was going to be "just for fun" and to try out the pattern. But I still learned something with this, and that's what's worth it.
